Siri Shortcuts: Custom Phrases

In addition to the default Siri commands above, you can create custom Siri Shortcuts in Settings > Siri & Search > TheDeskMonitor > All Shortcuts. This lets you set a personal trigger phrase like "Hey Siri, start my day" to trigger a TheDeskMonitor clock-in — useful for team members who want a shorter or more natural phrase than the default.

For enterprise MDM deployments, contact your TheDeskMonitor account manager to receive a pre-configured shortcut profile that pushes custom phrases to your entire device fleet without individual setup.

Tips for Better Voice Recognition

  • Say "TheDeskMonitor" clearly — both Google Assistant and Siri use the app name to route the intent. Slurring or shortening it ("desk mon") may not be recognised.
  • Pause briefly before the command — "Hey Google [pause] clock me in to TheDeskMonitor" is more reliably recognised than speaking in a continuous rush.
  • Use Bluetooth headset in noisy environments — a wireless headset microphone close to your mouth significantly improves recognition accuracy in construction, warehouse, or outdoor environments.
  • For Android: enable Voice Match — Settings > Google > Voice Match. This trains the device to your voice and improves accuracy for all Google Assistant commands.
  • Check app permissions if commands fail — if a command is not responding, verify that TheDeskMonitor has Microphone and App Actions permissions (Android) or Use with Ask Siri is enabled (iOS).
