Geofencing

A GPS virtual boundary around a work location — employees automatically clock in on arrival and out on departure, eliminating manual attendance for field workers.

Definition

Geofencing is a GPS-based technology that creates a virtual perimeter around a physical location — such as an office, job site, client premises, or depot. When an employee's device enters or exits this virtual boundary, the system automatically triggers a predefined event: clock-in on entry, clock-out on exit, or a notification to the manager.

How Geofencing Works

  1. Manager defines a geofence (circular radius around GPS coordinates) for each work location
  2. Employee's mobile device (with GPS enabled and the monitoring app installed) continuously monitors GPS position
  3. On entering the geofence boundary — attendance is recorded automatically (clock-in)
  4. On exiting the geofence — clock-out is recorded automatically
  5. Manager dashboard shows each employee's location history and time-at-location
